Okay, I get the concept ... find someone with money, take something that is important to them, accept extortion in return for safe return of whatever you took. Simple, right? Except when you take something worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, the kind of people you're dealing with tend to be a little more capable of doing things like sending heavily armed teams of very unpleasant men to do some rather sick-making things to you, your family, your friends, your friends' family and so on, unto five generations. Sure, they might pay you off, judging it to be the cheaper option, but it's kind of like playing Russian roulette. Yeah, you might win, but when you lose - you lose hard.
Does the Saud family have an Arabian version of the SEALs? I guess we'll find out in a few days. |
